The Venue Lake Wanaka

Set amongst an iconic southern landscape, The Venue is an event space that can be configured for large weddings or more intimate affairs.

Boasting two large internal wings, an outdoor courtyard, and a large lawn area; The Venue can certainly meet all your event requirements.

The larger wing has a rustic aesthetic, with high exposed beams, roofing iron, timber walls and concrete floors, and can accommodate 100-120 seated guests.

Fitted with a speaker system, the Rustic Wing is also the space designed to best facilitate speeches, a dance floor, and a DJ or band.

The smaller wing offers a more contemporary vibe, with timber floors, a gas fireplace, and garden views. The possibilities are endless for the Garden Wing; if your group size allows, you could choose to host the ceremony, formalities or dining for 60-70 guests in this wing, leaving the Rustic Wing for dancing and festivities. This could also be the perfect space to host pre-reception canapés and drinks.

The Garden Wing provides peace of mind when it comes to wet or unfavourable weather, serving as a refined and tasteful safety net for a wedding ceremony. Attached to The Garden Wing, we also have The Nook, a small, cosy space to escape the music, and mingle in a quieter area as your guests enjoy cake and hot drinks.

A striking alpine backdrop lines the outdoor courtyard, providing the quintessential Wānaka wedding experience! Creating an indoor-outdoor flow, this space connects both wings, bringing your group together throughout the night. Fitted with bar leaners, tables, chairs, and umbrellas for those surprisingly warm summer evenings, and with fairy lights creating a magical ambience in the evening, this space is ideal for canapés and drinks. A mature garden encompasses a large manicured lawn, ideal for an outdoor wedding, lawn games, and casual drinks and canapés. Of course, you may choose a different location for your wedding ceremony, and return to The Venue for a reception and festivities.

This ‘rustic-glam’, multi-use venue will leave you spoilt for choice when planning your big event. With a sunny central courtyard connecting the internal Garden Wing and Rustic Wing spilling out onto a manicured lawn, whether it’s lawn games with alpine views, lounging on bean bags with cocktails and canapés, or live music and dancing - your vision for your event can be realised.

While we are licensed for up to 200 guests, perfect for a cocktails and canapés affair, we also boast a freshly refurbished, fully functional kitchen, perfectly suitable for you to engage one of Wānaka’s many talented caterers for a more formal seated event.
